Privacy Policy

First, the Simple Version

Any data that is posted publicly is, well, public. Anyone will be able to see it. So, please don’t post any personal information on anything like post comments or product reviews.

Any data that is sent using the contact form on the contact page will be used only to reply to you in regards to the issue of which you are inquiring.

All customer communication, whether submitted through the contact form or using the email address provided during checkout, is retained for business purposes.

Any data that is sent during a transaction is kept private and is only used to fulfill your order. All sales information (order total, items ordered, customer name and location) is also retained for tax purposes. I do not retain any payment information, as all of that is handled securely through either Paypal or Stripe (depending on your selected method of payment.

The only information I get from paypal is your name, location for shipment, and the email address associated with your paypal account. I will not receive any information from paypal regarding your payment information, credit card information, banking information, etc… For more information about how paypal handles this information, see Paypal’s privacy policy here: https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/ua/privacy-full.

The only credit card information I will get from Stripe is the last 4 digits of your card number (the same thing that is printed on all receipts from purchases made in physical stores), your card’s expiration date, the card type, and the country of origin. I do not receive any other financial information from Stripe. For more information about how Stripe handles your personal information, see their privacy policy here: https://stripe.com/us/privacy

I will not use email addresses submitted for any of the above reasons for advertising purposes. Email addresses submitted via the contact form, comments or reviews, or provided when making purchases are not added to any mailing lists.

If you submit your email address to the mailing list sign up form, then you may receive an occasional email from me regarding special sales (on finished pieces sold here, at Gailavira Jewelry and in my Etsy shops, as well as tutorials from WireJewelrytutorials.com), announcements when new tutorials are added to the website (both free and paid) and other advertising from Wire Jewelry Tutorials and Gailavira Jewelry. These advertising emails rarely go out more than once a month, and are never sent more than once a week (with corrections to errors in previous emails being the only exception).

To my knowledge, the plug-ins used on this site do not store or track any user data. If a plug-in relies on a third party for any part of it’s functionality (IE: Facebook, Twitter, etc…), those sites may or may not be tracking or storing user data. If you use any part of this site that requires a third party to function, please see the privacy policy of those companies for more information, at the time this is being written, the only plug-ins this applies to are the share to social media buttons).

Below is the (mostly) standard, more detailed version of the privacy policy.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

Any data that is posted publicly on this site (user comments, reviews, etc.) is shared with anyone who visits this web-site and views the page the content was posted on. Please refrain from leaving any personal information in comments or reviews.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
